Fate

She goes by Fate, but people sometimes call her Faaaaay. She gets how life is one grab bag of emotions. You can’t know what you’re going to get from one day to the next, or even from one moment to the next. She’s enjoying how this restaurant attracts a diverse crowd and is relieved to be her true self with these friends.

She’s a researcher and knows a lot about one specific protein, it’s important for wound healing. She doesn’t know if she will stay in academics though. Her friends tell her maybe she can develop a better “adhesive bandage” and while they demonstrate that they don’t understand her work with this comment and subsequent giggles, she doesn’t need them too. She has lab mates and international collaborators. These friends are the foundation for her, they give her the encouragement to go out and make other connections. They have a sense of values and goofy sense of humor.
