About
A friend said about me, "for Sheila, science + design = art." This was true even in my high school days when I completed an independent studies project on science-inspired art. Media Profunda reflects these interests and attempts to express how everything is connected by bringing a loose painterly style to a variety of organic subjects.
Professionally, I have put my talents toward pharmaceutical advertising and medical education. I have 20+ years of experience in medical communications. Since 2013, I have been instrumental in the design and delivery of internal, patient-facing, and academic research communications for the Department of Surgery atTexas Children’s Hospital.
I attended Rice University where I double majored in biology and studio art. After graduation, I moved to Chicago and completed two master’s degrees: One in biomedical visualization at the University of Illinois at Chicago and another in healthcare sector management at DePaul University.
I release paintings in collections several times each year, if you want to know about the next one, please give me your email address. I promise not to spam you. It's just me. Thank you!
I am interested in venues that would carry my paintings or people who want to collaborate on medically-inspired projects. Please let me know if you have any ideas. I love to think about the next project!
