Ear hairs moving at the beat of the cosmos
Ear hairs moving at the beat of the cosmos
I wanted to depict the inner ear as part of this series because the idea of spirals occurring in nature is fun and fascinating.
This painting depicts the middle inner ear as you have not seen it before. Sound comes in and rattles the bones (here made of the space framing them), which wiggles the vestibule and then the tiny hairs in the cochlea (snail shaped part) convert the sound to electricity so nerves can take the sound to the brain. 3 semi-circular canals help us keep our balance and position in space because of little stones bouncing around in there. Right side depicts the bone texture of the skull
The sides are bright a very pale blue.
