This is the smallest painting in the Wind and Wing collection. The title flips the phrase “on a wing and a prayer”—usually about slim chances and shaky hope—into something more enduring, where faith becomes a steady way through.
There are pink undertones here from an earlier painting layered underneath. As I shared in an Instagram story, the edges have gone through three lives—hot pink, then light pink, and now gold.
A flock of coral birds takes off in the upper left, while others circle and fly throughout the piece. Pale turquoise and soft blue create a light-filled atmosphere, while bits of gold reflect and flicker like sunlight on water. One larger bird is made out of gold stripes—graphic and bold against the otherwise organic shapes and flowing drips.
The surface is full of texture. It’s layered, tactile, and offers all of the joy original art can bring.
