The largest of the bunch.
I got to take this painting to the Houston Visual Arts Alliance critique 2x, which is fun because it allows the group to see the evolution of the work. The first time I took it, they couldn't see where these paintings were going. It was one big cross section of an orange with all the segments showing. They gave me feedback on my rendering and the overall vibe. The paintings had the feeling of a messed up still life in a gravity-less world. I think they were confusing to look at.
Over the next month, they came a long way in conveying emotion and writing the poem in there definitely helped something magical happen. I changed it so entirely, finding oranges within the original one. The next time I went back, they got the feeling I was trying to express and cut me off from explaining, so the artwork could do the job without a lot of narrative.
