Andrea was Mona Lisa the woman's 5th child, and one of 3 to survive to adulthood. This painting only reveals on of her eyes. The eye on the left has a sort of stand in for an eye, a flower with a very dark center. To our brains trained to see faces, she's still there! Here, I think it might take one second to find the Mona Lisa if you're seeing this painting without the context of another work from the Peony Gazing collection.
Of the series, this one has the most purple. Not like there's tons of purple, but some of the pinks are are on the purple side. Magenta, orange red and coral still show up. Ripped up flower gets put back together by your brain and eye working together.
Greens in this painting tend more toward the middle, not too much teal or lime. Squiggly wiggly energy from the underlayer’s drips form leaves and you can see her hands more than in some of the others.
Peonies come in 40 varies, my book says botanists dispute the exact number. Let's say some liberties were taking here in showing them all in the same field. In this piece, she gets to chill, disappear a little, and let the peonies run the show.
